Israel’s children need your help. Estimates suggest that over 1 million Israeli children live below the poverty level. The availability of quality pre-university education is dwindling. Care for abused children and sick children requires government resources that are simply not available.
The Israel Children’s Action Network is addressing these problems. ICAN! is comprised of four organizations that reach out to children in unique ways and enrich them with fulfilling, productive and healthy lives.
ICAN! is raising awareness and friends for these organizations in the U.S. – you can give children in Israel a better life.

Ofanim outfits used buses as mobile classrooms. Staffed by graduate students, the buses are driven through the moshavim and small villages in the Negev to provide supplemental education in math, computer skills, science and arts to Israel’s poorest youth. Each bus serves 250 children every week in an exciting and enriching environment. Ofanim will soon be on the road in the Galil.

College For All provides intensive tutoring and mentoring for children identified by schools as having potential for academic success but who without intervention would not attend university. Each child receives more than 7,000 hours of help over a ten year period from second grade through high school, including support for parents. CFA operates centers throughout Israel, and is growing to meet the great need.

Residential Treatment Center shelters emotionally disturbed children who must be removed from abusive homes. Under RTC’s care and professional staff, children re-establish their self-worth and are prepared to be integrated into mainstream society. Its unique long-term treatment program, drug-free therapy and one-on-one staff-to-child ratio has made it a model for emulation in the U.S. and Europe.

Opening in 2008, this Paul Newman Hole-in-the-Wall Gang Camp will enrich the lives of children from the Middle East who suffer from serious illness or life-threatening conditions. Camping experiences are free, and parents can relax as a full time medical staff is on site while children have the freedom to enjoy themselves to the best of their ability at the pool, fields, crafts centers, stages and other camp experiences.
